ABOUT BRITT ZAIST

A native New Yorker (1946), Britt Zaist received her art training at the famous Art Students League of New York City where she is a Life Member. She is also widely known for her sumptuous abstractions in colored permanent inks. These paintings are in the collections of IBM, Konica Mfg., Burroughs Wellcome, The Knoxville-Tennessee Airport and other national and international corporations.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My designs in permanent ink suggest, rather than describe: birds on the wing, mountain landscapes, clear depths of the ocean or cascades of brilliant color. My drawings also suggest rather than describe with the viewer filling in all the details to individualize what they are seeing: a flamenco dancer, a favorite pet, a man, a woman... What begins with a technique ends with a discovery.

Mis diseños en tinta permanente sugieren más que describen: un pajaro en vuelo, un paisaje montañoso, las profundidades del océano o cascadas de brillantes coores. Mis dibujos también insinúan más que concretan, y es el observador quien llena de sentido los detalles que individualizan lo que ve: un bailador flamenco, una mascota favorita. un hombre, una mujer... Lo que empieza con una técnica se convierte en un descubrimiento.
